Consumer feelings not taken into account

In all the hub-bub surrounding new gadget launches and app. stores at the MWC event in Barcelona, most of the established mobile operators are treating their customers almost as an afterthought. So says Steve Bell, a 20-year Motorola veteran who has now set up his own consultancy, KeySo Global, to help industry players get more in tune with the customer experience, particularly when it comes to the mobile internet.

Mobile Internet statistics from Q1 2009

 

 

The global industry generates $800 billion annually and has shown the greatest resistance to economic downturn according to the CEO from Verizon. Mobile is a way of life and it will increase over the next 25 years

 

North America 2008 Wireless Revenue was up by $9 billion at $140 billion.

There were 270 million subscribers in the US who talked to for 2.2 trillion minutes and sent 1 trillion text messages.

Currently only 26 minutes of the day are spent on a mobile phone for the average US consumer whereas they spend five hours watching TV, 1 hour on the Internet.

 

Currently 25% of the industry's revenue is generated from data.

 

Smart phones will account for one third of all phones sold by 2011.
